A brand new low...

Friends, this is the kind of person I am. Today Lavonne found out about this website in the Province. I have been back two times since.

www.weddingbetting.com

After you vote (because I know you will) - look at how many people have also voted. I think that might be the craziest part. So there you have it - kind of awful, kind of funny.

*********************************************************************************

It is a rare thing that I offer a post-script to a post after it has been published. But I must say I feel the necessity on this one. I want to reiterate the absolute obsurdity of believing that you or I could accurately determine the length of a couple's relationship by looking at them for 30 seconds on the internet. I think the sort of edgy cynicism caught me, but I am also aware of how awful it is.

This site has sparked some controversy in recent days, and I apologize if you were offended by my post. Just for the record, I have no desire that any couple get divorced. But the thing remains fascinating, I must say.

alrighty Sharelle... you've wanted me to comment... THAT is a terrible site. I hate it... I started going through saying that everyone would have a happily ever after... does it surprise anyone that I would do that though

well this is hot or not except with weddings. you know www.hotornot.com, don't you? it could be worse because people are actually beliving the rating as opposed to this site where, "how should WE know how long you're going to last?". still, a painful site. though i notice that it looks as though NO ONE will be married longer than 6.9 years.

funny that you should mention that. someone else commented to me that it is basically hot or not. so i thought i would go check out the ol 'hot or not', see how its doing these days.
and it turns out, there is an entire page where people are talking about how they met their husband/wife through hot or not. so i sat there for about 10 minutes reading them. just crazy.

so basically I am the devil, cause this sort of judging is basically my job. I promise after spending a stressful long wedding day with a couple you can tell if they don't have what it takes. I think I give everyone on the site a 50%, cause that's realistic. I don't care what they look like, we all have our demons to fight, I'd say most people have a 50% chance of losing.

Good Luck with your final today Sharelle...you are a history buff, and will definitely ace the final! Just remember...guns or butter?

Eeeks... hope I wasn't the "controversy" you spoke of... and I hope you know I would not get offended by something like that... nor would I judge a post like that... I was just sad for all the couples on there as I too noticed that no one got the privelege of being married for more than 6.9 years. Lets give them some hope for the future!
