When the movie ended...

I literally clapped.

And Stef wanted to kill herself. But thats not the point. I will not listen to the criticism about this movie, I thought it was phenomenal. We all know, I am the biggest keener on a good Rom-Com (see I even have a stupid way of saying it). But this was not your average romantic comedy. I have heard it said "you felt like you were IN the fight scenes". And I say - heck yes! The thing was ridicously well scripted, and even executed. You must see it.

Recently, the ol' Rom-Com has been getting to me, because we present this wonderful storyline and then we ruin it with this totally irrational unhuman ending. Here we had some people, and an ending that just fit. Three cheers.

And now the question I bounced around already with Stef, Lavonne and My Mom:

Was the ending indefinite? What was happening there? Were you "happy" with it?

It's sad really, because everyone can relate to some degree. We always want to hope for the best, and we can disect it all and see all the things they could have done differently to make it work. But really, in my expereince there is usually more crying, these two were such hard asses and playing a game with eachother right to the end, which left it unresolved. I have heard though, that everyone that picked this as a date movie ended up fighting that night. It's a little too close for home perhaps, and it makes us evaluate how much we would take before we walk away...hmmm Best to see with the girls, and then have a sleep before discussing it with the man.

So I thought that the ending was great... totally take what you want from it. The thing I liked about it was that even though I am usually against too perfect, happy endings (and I was a little afraid this movie might try to do that at the end) I still wished that they could work it out because I actually cared about the characters. And then, when they don't end up together, it felt truthful. I have to say though, that I don't think this movie counts as a romantic comedy... I didn't laugh as much as cringe, a lot.
