This is getting out of hand....

I am changing my facebook profile
I am looking at my friend's facebook profiles
I am talking to two different people on msn about facebook.

I wish I was kidding, but I am not. I don't know about you, but it seems like in the last three days, everyone I know has joined facebook. Here is the thing. I don't even like facebook. There is that stupid "mini-feed" which tells you 8,000 things you didn't need to know about your friends. "Cheryl took the bible off of her favourite books"*. Then you are sitting there for a minute, pondering why Cheryl is no longer reading the bible. "Katie is no longer single"*. As if this one wasn't bad enough, if you break up, there is a cracked heart, telling the facebook world.

Granted, looking at the stupid pictures people post of you is fun. But why are we sitting around tagging photos anyway? I mean, how about I don't know CALLING the person we are tagging in the photo. I cannot talk, because I was inspired by Lavonne to create an album today, and tag people in it. So there you go, I am as guilty as the next guy. This rant is directed at myself.

If you don't have facebook, don't get it. I am telling you right now. If you do, oh boy, what have we gotten ourselves into. And hey - add me....

*The names have been changed to protect their facebook identities. You know who you are...hehe.

I know that Myspace and Facebook are two different intities...I did a little research and found that if Myspace was a country, it would roughly have the population of Spain..about 40,000,000 reoccuring users...those that login at least once a week...that number grows if you take in all the accounts. On top of that, Myspace recieves roughly 150,000 new accounts daily. Check it out at http://forevergeek.com/articles/debunking_the_myspace_myth_of_100_million_users.php

This entry made me laugh out loud in humiliation. Yeah Katie is no longer listed as single! Ha ha ha... I can't even handle it. I'm on facebook right now. It shames me.

I don't actually like facebook either, and it really IS getting out of hand. But I'm going get pie right now. Bye!

Maybe you should not have Facebook if you hate it so much.

ya sharelle!!!!! maybe you shouldn't have it!!!!!!!! I don't know though, I feel like I need an intervention. I really don't want to feel the need to check all the time. It's so stupid. My theory is that everyone wants to be famous, and facebook gives them the illusion that people care about their lives, and promotes their friends to a tabloid level where they can check on them and judge as they wish. People don't sit and judge over the phone like they will flipping quickly through every picture. Judging is the addiction. And we all need rehab

anonymous - you have to stop posting like this.
you are killing me.
here is what i propose: if you are going to say something sassy, at least have the guts to put your name to it.
see, i put my name to that sass.
i think its official - no more anon. feature. it kills me....
are you happy now anon? you are tormenting me...
lurker..

Its official: myspace is so 2006. Facebook is the new myspace.
Sometimes i just scan facebook profiles, looking for that funny group that i should have just joined in the first place- now there is a waste of time

Haha. I AM a lurker. I suppose thats what happens when you put your opinions on the internet for all to see. You invite criticism. I may point out that instead of whining when someone points out the obvious solution to your post that you could instead just stop using Facebook. Maybe just go back to using the phone to share news with your friends. That way you won't have to put up with strangers posting on your site.

I agree with ang. Facebook, myspace and blogs all give people the illusion that people care you and you might even think that you are pretty cool yourself. But do you really need other peoples validation to feel good about yourself?

I really like the anon feature. I could post my name as Sam, but that wouldn't really mean any more to you than anon would it?

And I am happy now.
